In just four steps, you will create your first AR and VR Space
We will start with a basic Space with one 3D object. You will learn the basics of Fectar Studio (without any coding). And with those basic steps, you can add any content you like. After this, you can try out more tutorials.
Step 1: Create New Space
Log in to Fectar Studio and click the orange button. Create new Space.
Now you can choose between an Empty Space or templates. In this tutorial, we will start with an Empty Space. Then, click on Empty Space to create a new Space.
Step 2: Add Content, a 3D model
Rename your first Space
And there you have it: you are ready to start creating your first Space!
Change the space name untitled Space to, for example, 'My First Space.' Of course, you can always change this. Click Save to save the changes you made.
The Free content folder
To add content to your Space, you click on Add Content.
A new window opens. The file manager! This is where you can manage and upload your assets. For this tutorial, you will use assets from the Free Content folder.
To open this folder, click on Free Content.
Add a 3D model to your Space.
Now navigate to the folder called Fectar Assets and click on this folder. The folder will open, and some starter content will be visible. In this example, you will add a 3D model to your Space.
Select the Lighthouse and click on OK
A 3D spot and adjusting its height
You will see that there is now a Spot called fectar_lighthouse. A Spot is a placeholder for your content. When your content is in a Spot, you can start positioning, rotating, and scaling your content. You can even add interactions. But that is beyond the scope of this guide.
However, you have to set the height of your 3D model Spot. So please fill in 100 in the height section, like in the image below.
Click on the orange Save button to save your changes!
Step 3: Publish your Space
Present your Space to everyone or a select number of people.
Open the share tab
Go to Fectar Studio, open the Space you want to publish, and click on the Share tab.
The 'Visibility" options are now available.
Click on the arrow, and a drop-down menu opens with multiple options
Private, Unlisted, protected, and Public
If you want to quickly preview your scene in one of the Fectar apps, you can set your Space to Unlisted.
This way, you can access your scene by scanning the QR code or filling in the Space code in one of the Fectar apps, as seen in the image below.
1. This is the share link for your Space.
You can share this link any way you want. For example, share via a chat message, social media post, or email.
2. This is the unique five-letter code of your Space.
When you want to find your Space in one of the Fectar apps, you can fill in this code in the search bar. This way, the Fectar app will discover your Space.
3. This is the QR code of your Space
This QR code is generated from the share link, and when scanned with a smartphone, the Fectar app will open your Space directly. This is perfect for flyers, business cards, welcome messages, banners, and more!
Click on Save.
Now you can check your own Space in one of the Fectar apps! We support Smartphones (iOS and Android) and VR headsets (Quest 1,2, and the Pico Neo). And also the Microsoft HoloLens 1 and 2.
Step 4: View your Space
Pick up your smartphone and open the Fectar App.
Click on the Search Icon at the bottom of your screen.'
Click on 'QR Code.'
The camera is now active on your smartphone.
